Thursday 29^th
JWM, Julian, Gareth, Richard arrive by car. Sam, Rich H + Zara arrive by train+taxi.

Friday 30^th 
Helvellyn from The Swirls on Thirlmere up Helvellyn Gill , over Lower Man, down Birk Side and back along Thirlmere through woods.  Rain at first with low cloud. Some snow and ice on top. Oli, George and Jacqueline arrive by car.

Saturday 31^st 
High cloud and very good visibility meant a high level walk. Up the Band, Three Tarns, Bow Fell, Esk Pike, Esk Hause and down Mickleden. Half the group attempted to continue to Scafell Pike but sheet ice and very strong wind forced them to turn back. Clear, bright, high cloud with some sun. Views of all major mountains and Scotland…! Gareth’s dad arrived by car.

Sunday 1^st 
stayed below ice, up Greenburn, over Birk Fell, across Coniston Moor to Coniston. George, Oli and Sam went back to return home. Others continued to pint in Sun Inn. Back via Tarn Hows and Low Oxen Fell to Ford. Late arrival home ~6.30. Gareth’s dad unwell.

Monday 2^nd
Gareth and dad to hospital. Rest to car park at Red Knab on edge of Windemere. Through woods to Hawkshead for pub lunch. Back via Blelham Tarn and High Wray bay along lake. 2” snow everywhere, strong winds higher up. Rich H and Zara depart by train.

Tuesday 3^rd
Remainder leave for home.
