Low Hall Garth – Gareth Sylvester-Bradley, Rowan Sylvester-Bradley, Toby Matthews, Frances Matthews (and Jack the dog), Richard Wilson, Steve Williams, George Lewis, Ollie Debenham, Tom Debenham and Peter Wilson + Bekki Farrar in NT cottage ‘upstairs’

Thursday 18th
GSB and RSB arrive 22:00 after 10 hours of roadworks and accidents

Friday 19th 
10:15 GSB and RSB > Bridge End > Fell Foot > Wrynose Pass road (closed to traffic due to ice) > Three Shire Stone > Great Knott > Crinkle Crags > The Band > NT campsite > path up side of Side Pike > road > Fell Foot > Bridge End > LHG (17:00) – mostly clear, good views, plenty of snow, e.g. Red Tarn frozen and covered. Toby and Frances arrived 17:15, RW and Steve by hired Astra in time for dinner (spicy bolognaise), George, Ollie and Tom in the A-Team Van in the night.

Saturday 20th 
(Very clear skies, fabulous crisp day) 8:50 > FB beneath Greenburn workings > Wet Side Edge. Advance group sped off to Swirl How and then on to Old Man. GSB, Rowan and Frances slow but steady to Swirl How then dropped down thru deep snow to Greenburn Beck and home by 15:00. Advance group to Mines then into Coniston (Rising Sun) and along the path to left of road > High Tilberthwaite > track (U5003?) > High Hallgarth > LHG (17:35). Dinner: pork casserole.

Sunday 21st
One party (GSB, RW, Steve, George, Ollie, Tom, Bekki) > Rydal Mount. 9:40 > Ambleside > Nook End > Low Pike (snowing, already no visibility across valley) > High Pike (deep snow, inside white cloud) > Dove Crag > Fairfield > Great Rigg > Heron Pike > Rydal Mount (16:30), then food shopping in Ambleside. Others (Rowan, Peter, Toby, Frances) > Bridge End > Fell Foot > Blea Tarn > path down side of Side Pike > NT campsite > Old Dungeon Ghyll (12:00-13:00) > Rosset > Cumbria Way > woods beneath Lingmoor Fell > Little Langdale, Slater Bridge > LHG (15:45). Dinner: fish pie!

Monday 22nd 
(Some cloud, but clear enough for good views) 10:10 > High Park > Colwith Force > Park Farm > Skelwith Bridge. Toby and Frances > Elterwater via path along river. Everyone else > anti-clockwise round Loughrigg and up from SE. Fantastic views from the trig point of previous three days peaks. Then down to NW and via High Close to Elterwater. Joined Toby and Frances at The Britannia Inn for lunch at 13:50 (stop serving hot food at 14:00!). Back to LHG, some via Three Shires Inn! Dinner: chicken thighs and cauliflower cheese!
